TNP LIVE EP113 The Best Damn Morning Show. Period.: Monologue
Since September 11th 2021 when my friend John Henry and I started this podcast I have been writing these monologues. Usually right before we go live, I'll sit in the studio and come up with something that I wanna say. It's been a solid creative exercise each and every week and I have received loads of great feedback that not only makes me happy, but motivates me to do more.
The rest of the process is just as easy now. Three hours flies, especially with the great guests I've been able to have. Having the actual conversations is like being in a fog and when they are done I listen back to what was said. I try to be present, despite there being always some production work or technical gremlin to deal with.
The chat is a welcome edition to the show since we went live and it comforts me seeing the familiar names and banter each week. This part especially has increased many folds since I asked for the opportunity to host my show in the place of AM WakeUp on Fridays. The culture of the show here stands heads above even its most gifted peers. Years of work put into building it by folks like Steve, Chris, and Shelly made this the place to be weekday mornings.
If it sounds like a perfect arrangement for a podcaster aspiring to be successful, you're not wrong, it's just that I aspire to do more for others than for me. I've always said that I stay anonymous for plenty of different reasons but the one I give most often is that the stories I cover are way bigger than me and they deserve the focus. It's not me that is the star of the show here, the guests, topics, and community are.
This mindset is what led me to wanting to become a producer for other shows, so that I can help elevate people like I do when I get to make shows. I couldn't be more excited for what TNP has in store for this year. Not only has Saturday Night Anarchy been fantastic since it started, but you all should look out for more from my friend Tom Cooper in 2024.
With the confidence Saturday Night Anarchy has given me, I am working this year to turn TNP into a network for DIY Media creators. Not just podcasters either. I want researchers, artists, musicians, stand-up comedians, and producers like me. Because growing my own show and audience can only go so far. I bet I can make far more of a difference in the media landscape with more people with a wider reach, backed by other solid people in the talents and skills they can provide. Wait till they get a load of us!
Oh, and while I'm preparing all of the necessary arrangements to make this all happen, TNP LIVE will be taking a few weeks off to figure out a new time slot and schedule. Stay tuned to TNP shows and socials for updates there.
The change that I needed to make in my life was inspired by the awesome experience I have had working with AM WakeUp. Their value for value way of proving you all content is exactly what TNP has always aspired to be. Now, just like with Third Eye Carnival, its time to proliferate the method.
My hope, by removing myself from one great opportunity, is to be able to provide that same kind of opportunity to others. Its an investment that I am making not just in the people I'll be working with but also what it stands for. I could pick no better template for how things should be run here, I expect to take it and expand it as far as it can go.
So in 2024 as I step away from my duties here, I will be focusing more on new TNP shows from familiar faces and maybe some new ones. TNP247 will be coming soon and will provide a 24 hour live stream to promote everything that TNP Productions produces or distributes. There will be original music this year and I want to help promote and produce other original artists. And TNP LIVE will return, as well as these monologues.
This is not goodbye, but a heartfelt thank you. I'll still be listening to everything Steve and Chris do when I can and chatting it up with you all. Much love to Shelly and Painted Bull Studios too, makes me wanna do a cartoon...
TNP Fridays or not please keep supporting The Best Damn Morning Show. Period. And now let's take a look at this week's Big 4 for one last time on AM WakeUp and see who pops in to join us.
