Roe Is Over EP42 : Monologue
I had breakfast at this diner the other day. The way the place was decorated in a way you could call Americana, pictures of old movie stars, Classic Coca Cola signs, you get the deal. On the wall next to my table, under the neon lights, was a poster of the sailor in New York's Times Square, kissing a girl he didn't even know in the iconic picture to celebrate the end of World War 2.
I'll never know exactly what the feeling of that war ending must've been like. The ends of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were not as jubilant of an occasion, just a sigh of relief or a wail at the bloodshed and collapse of a castle we made of sand for over 20 years, just to do what Jimi Hendrix said they do many years before that.
A different war is ending, or at least returning to the States where it can be defeated as long as we act to stamp it out forever. One we're all lucky to have survived. More deadly than any draft, any bomb, or any other genocide in the history of the earth. All over a mistake, one that was finally corrected in the official record this past Friday, June 24th. When I say mistake, I mean on our part, the survivors.
See, most of us ignored the issue of the culling of our bloodlines. It was a “right”. It was a “choice”. The decision of the mother. A woman's business. An act of “consent” between two adults.
We bought the eugenicist bullshit and now murder was “freedom”. The state sponsoring it was “liberty”. We ignored the history, we ignored the pleas of mothers who had sacrificed their unborn to turn back. We even ignored the story of Roe (real name McCorvey) herself not being true, even the one of her repenting for her lie.
As it turns out, when you look into it The Big Lie was accepted by our better nature. We want people to be free in this country. The majority of us at least. The problem is we can't define what that freedom is or what it means. The Bill of Rights isn't some horoscope to be interpreted to uplift your feelings or to make you feel like a good person but if you watch mainstream news this is how they treat laws in general. The interpretation dominates explanation or demonstration.
Nobody can point out the specifics on TV or YouTube or Facebook of what the law states. Remember the Kyle Rittenhouse trial? How bout the case of Michael Brown in Ferguson many years ago?
Those stories played on people's emotions and not the reality of the law. Living in such an unreal world, in a delusion, and then having that rug yanked out from under you is understandably upsetting.
This is where my suspicions come into play because not all the people pushing these fake narratives can be that stupid. Some yes, but someone had to have realized that they were on the wrong side and they kept their mouth shut. How long does a falsehood have to persist to be damaging?
In the case of Roe vs Wade we're talking about decades of murder. Day in and day out. The way UPS can ship you a package from Amazon, the government teamed up with business and propagated the lie throughout industry, the media, and ultimately the banks.
The utility of genocide is handy for state actors and its easy when you have a large part of the population thinking its a good thing. People not only ignore it, we celebrate the Uyghurs, the slave trade in Yemen, and the little kids in the Congo carrying buckets of cobalt for your electric battery because that's what we were told that capitalism was. Nobody really looked into that either. Everyone excepts the excuses for it and changes the channel, puts on another cat video, and orders more junk from Door Dash to rot the rest of their existence away in gluttony and self pleasure. The American Dream of the new generation, one of self interest, nihilism, and the survival of the “fittest”.
I hope our opposition in this war for life and Liberty realizes they are are not fit to decide who lives and dies based on state and corporate coercion. Something that tells you that babies are not babies until our institutions deem them so and continues to end them. This is even more cruel in my opinion. To remove the humanity from a person and then execute them. Isn't that how all genocides happen?
Not all ignored the lie. Eventually it was defeated. The world is forever changed for what we've done. The redemption we should seek now is one that provides all the lives that get to play out in our world with Negative Liberty. There's no sense in stopping at birth, there's no sense in not stopping the other lies, about our right to speak, our right to self protection, and our right to due process.
If setting the record straight on abortion can save generations from death, it was worth the struggle, as is our pursuit of a better world here on earth through volunteerism, peace, and love. Roe is over, but the cold war against the Global Corporatist Oligarchy is just heating up. Thankfully we'll have more children as survivors of the previous war by our side, who can now carry on our cause and our legacy. That is a victory that will change the world and human history much like that sailor celebrated in Times Square in 1945.
